Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Senior Threat Detection Engineer to build and operate detections that protect Samsara and its customers. You will own the detection lifecycle and craft scalable, AI-assisted tooling for rapid, safe deployments.

Reporting to the Director of Threat Detection and Response, you’ll collaborate with Security Operations, Application Security, and cross-functional engineering teams on ambitious detection initiatives.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in security engineering or related field.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with large dataset analysis.
• Hands-on with detection-as-code, Git-based workflows, CI/CD.
• Deep experience with modern SIEM platforms and data onboarding.
• Working knowledge of AWS, Linux, containers, and EDR.
• Able to lead projects independently and document concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Build MITRE ATT&CK–aligned detections across cloud, endpoint, identity, email, and application telemetry.
• Own the full detection lifecycle from hypothesis to retirement.
• Advance our detection-as-code platform with version control, automated tests, and CI/CD.
• Identify emerging threat surfaces and integrate data ingestion across systems.
• Evaluate AI-powered security capabilities and MCP integrations.
• Turn threat intelligence into actionable detections and retrospective scans.
• Collaborate with Security Operations during investigations and drills.
• Champion Samsara’s growth principles as we scale globally.
