Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Senior Threat Detection Engineer to build and operate detections that protect Samsara and customers. You will own the detection lifecycle, develop detections across cloud, endpoint, and identity, and advance an AI-assisted detection platform with robust testing and CI/CD.

You will work with Security Operations, App Security, and Enterprise Security, collaborating with engineering teams, and shaping detections from idea to production.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in security engineering, detection engineering, or related field.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with large data analysis for detections.
• Hands-on with detection-as-code, Git workflows, automated testing, CI/CD.
• Deep experience with modern SIEM platforms, data onboarding, queries, dashboards.
• Working knowledge of AWS, Linux, containers, and EDR.
• Proven ability to build systems from scratch, lead projects, and document concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and improve MITRE ATT&CK-aligned detections across cloud, endpoint, identity, email, and application telemetry, with clear false-positive thresholds.
• Own the full detection lifecycle from hypothesis to retirement.
• Advance the detection-as-code platform with version control, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Identify emerging threat surfaces and build integrations to strengthen data ingestion and coverage.
• Evaluate AI-powered security capabilities and MCP integrations, including security risks.
• Turn threat intel into actionable detection and retrospective scanning.
• Partner with Security Operations during investigations, incidents, and tabletop exercises.
• Champion Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally.
