Job summary

Samsara Inc. is seeking a Senior Threat Detection Engineer to build and operate signals, pipelines, and tooling that power threat discovery for Samsara and its customers.

The role drives the threat detection platform end to end, from idea to production, including CI/CD and automation. You will work with Security Operations and engineering teams while exploring AI-assisted capabilities and responsible risk management.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in security engineering, detection engineering, or related field.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with large dataset analysis to validate detections.
• Hands-on with detection-as-code, Git-based workflows, automated testing, and CI/CD deployment.
• Deep experience with modern SIEM platforms, data onboarding, queries, dashboards, and threat intel enrichment.
• Working knowledge of AWS, Linux, containers, and EDR.
• Proven ability to build systems from scratch, lead projects independently, and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and improve MITRE ATT&CK-aligned detections across cloud, endpoint, identity, email, and application telemetry.
• Own the full detection lifecycle from hypothesis through retirement.
• Advance the detection-as-code platform with version control, reviews, testing, and CI/CD.
• Identify emerging threat surfaces and build integrations to strengthen data ingestion and coverage.
• Evaluate AI-powered security capabilities and secure MCP integrations.
• Turn threat intelligence into actionable detection and retrospective scanning.
• Partner with Security Operations during investigations and incidents.
• Champion Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally.
