Job summary

Prometheus Energetics is seeking a Thermal Systems Engineer to own the design, modeling, testing, and lifecycle integration of thermal protection systems for solid rocket motors. You will drive TPS development from concept through motor qualification and high-rate production, reporting to the Director of Engineering.

The ideal candidate has 4–6 years of relevant aerothermal or high-temperature materials experience, strong modeling skills, and the ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials or related field.
• 4–6 years for Thermal Systems Engineer role; 7–10+ years for Senior role.
• Proficiency with transient thermal analysis tools.
• Experience with high-temperature materials and ablative systems.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead TPS design, material selection, and qualification for solid rocket motor assemblies.
• Develop and maintain 1D–3D thermal models using standard software.
• Plan and execute subscale tests and post-fire evaluations.
• Correlate analytical models with test data for material properties and recession rates.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver motor designs on schedule.
