Job summary

Inversion in Playa Vista, CA, is seeking a Senior Thermal Structures Engineer to own heat shield and hot structure design for a high-performance reentry vehicle, from concept through flight. You will perform structural and thermal analyses, ensure robust attachments, and collaborate with materials and manufacturing teams to fabricably high-temperature components.

You have 5+ years of aerospace hardware experience, strong CAD and FEA skills (Nastran/Abaqus/Ansys), and the ability to obtain U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5+ years of aerospace hardware mechanical/structural design experience.
• Experience with structural analysis (hand and finite element).
• Experience with thermal-structural analysis.
• Strong fundamentals in materials, joints, fasteners.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and GD&T.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own detailed mechanical design of heat shield components and assemblies.
• Perform structural and thermal-structural analyses from hand to FEA.
• Design for thermal strains, manage CTE mismatch and joints.
• Collaborate with materials and manufacturing engineers for high-temp systems.
• Define and support testing from unit to qualification.
• Develop part and assembly models, drawings, and GD&T.
