Job summary

Inversion seeks a Senior Thermal Structures Engineer to own heat shield and hot structure hardware design from concept to flight. You will lead mechanical design, perform structural and thermal-structural analyses, and ensure manufacturability for a hypersonic reentry vehicle.

The role requires experience in high-temperature structures, GD&T, and 3D CAD, with on-site work at Inversion HQ in Playa Vista, CA, and the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years in mechanical/structural design of aerospace hardware.
• Experience with structural and thermal-structural analysis.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and GD&T.
• Able to obtain/maintain U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own detailed mechanical design of heat shield components and assemblies.
• Perform structural and thermal-structural analysis from hand calculations to FE analysis.
• Design to manage thermal gradients, CTE mismatch, and joint interfaces.
• Collaborate with materials and manufacturing to ensure fabricability.
• Define structural/thermal testing from element-level to qualification.
• Develop part/assembly models, drawings, and GD&T through release.
