Job summary

Vertiv in Austin, TX is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer – Server Liquid Systems to join the new product development team responsible for designing, developing, and testing advanced liquid-cooled solutions for data-center hardware.

The role focuses on design, analysis, and integration of liquid-cooling hardware such as processor cold plates, RDHX assemblies, manifolds, and piping, with emphasis on thermal performance, manufacturability, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 5+ years in mechanical design with thermal-mechanical solutions.
• Experience with fluid systems and cooling hardware; data center cooling knowledge preferred.
• Proficient reading and creation of drawings and equipment specifications; Creo preferred.
• Ability to interpret customer specifications and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills; travel 10–15%.

Responsibilities

• Design cold plates, RDHX assemblies, manifolds, piping systems for new products.
• Develop microchannel geometries optimized for pressure drop and heat flux.
• Evaluate baseplate materials, surface treatments, and bonding methods.
• Create 3D models and assemblies in Creo with drawings and design intent.
• Support CFD and FEA analysis for cold plate channel design and structural integrity.
• Collaborate with other Vertiv engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Create, maintain BOMs and provide manufacturing support during prototyping.
• Participate in and lead group discussions; travel for supplier visits and customer meetings.
