Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Thermal Plant & Lab Infrastructure Technician at the Milford Proving Grounds to oversee large-tonnage chiller operations, perform diagnostics, and sustain lab test equipment. You will work within the EMT team, ensuring safe commissioning and continuous uptime for wind tunnel and emissions testing facilities.

The role requires 5+ years in chiller service, Maximo PM experience, and the ability to interpret complex electrical/controls diagrams up to 480V, with hands-on

Qualifications

• 5+ years in large-tonnage chiller service.
• Maximo experience for PM setup, planning, and execution.
• Experience in ISO 17025 or ISO 9001 accredited environments.

Responsibilities

• Own large-tonnage chiller operation, deep-dive diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Support DX, flooded, and absorption systems.
• Interpret wiring schematics; troubleshoot complex circuits up to 480V.
• Apply test instrumentation: multimeter, megger, signal generator.
• Perform comprehensive preventive maintenance across building and process assets.
• Enable wind tunnel availability through design understanding and troubleshooting.
• Read P&IDs and one-line diagrams; manage pump circuit theory with bypass control.
• Troubleshoot steam/heating/humidity control and related systems.
• Lead safety-focused execution and interface with EMT operations.
