Job summary

Valar Atomics seeks a Senior Thermal-Hydraulics Systems Engineer to lead system-level modelling of reactor loops and power cycles using Flownex SE. You will validate models, size components, and guide design decisions within a nuclear-regulated framework.

The role requires a strong academic background in mechanical/nuclear engineering and 5+ years of experience in thermal-hydraulics, with leadership experience and scripting/automation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in engineering with thermodynamics/heat transfer emphasis and 5+ years in thermal-hydraulics.
• Led responsibility on integrated system or cycle models and analyses.
• Experience with nuclear/regulated quality programs (NQA-1, ISO 9001, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Flownex SE network models of primary/secondary loops and power cycles for steady-state and transient analysis.
• Characterize and size components; evaluate Brayton and sCO2 performance.
• Analyze transients and provide boundary conditions to CFD/FEA streams.
• Produce design-basis documentation under NQA-1; support safety analyses.
• Lead verification/validation of system models; mentor junior engineers.
• Standardize Flownex modelling methods and templates; assist in scoping and scheduling.
