Job summary

Valar Atomics is building the next generation of nuclear energy in the United States. The Senior CFD Analysis Engineer will own and deliver advanced CFD/thermal-hydraulic analyses for reactor internals and balance-of-plant systems, translating physical problems into defensible Ansys Fluent models and driving V&V under nuclear quality requirements.

You will mentor analysts, collaborate with Neutronics and FEA teams, and help define CFD standards while supporting regulator and customer

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Nuclear Engineering, or closely related field.
• 8+ years of professional CFD analysis experience.
• Master's degree in related field preferred.
• Experience with nuclear quality programs and regulatory environments (ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B).
• Experience coupling CFD with systems codes and structural FEA.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform high-fidelity CFD and conjugate-heat-transfer analyses in Ansys Fluent for reactor thermal-hydraulics.
• Establish and document V&V basis per ASME V&V 20, including mesh-convergence studies.
• Provide and exchange boundary conditions with other streams and teams.
• Lead technical problem definition, reviews, and produce reports satisfying regulatory traceability.
• Interface with thermal-fluid, structural, and neutronics teams to build multiphysics workflows.
• Lead CFD reviews, set modelling standards, and mentor junior analysts.
