Job summary

TerraPower in Bellevue, WA is seeking a Senior Engineer, Thermal Hydraulics to perform thermal-hydraulic analyses for the Natrium Reactor program. You will run CFD simulations, analyze hydraulic networks, and present results to cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in mechanical/nuclear/chemical engineering, experience with STAR-CCM+, SolidWorks, and CFD verification/validation, and a strong problem-solving mindset.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related experience in mechanical, nuclear, or chemical engineering.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated use of commercial CFD package (STAR-CCM+ preferred).
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Nuclear systems CFD experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with CFD verification and validation of modeling methodologies a plus.
  • Experience in Software Quality Assurance (SQA) and Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) standards highly preferred.
  • Creative thinker with strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis and design of structures, systems, and components for the Natrium Reactor.
  • Computational thermal-fluids analysis using 3D CFD tools.
  • Perform steady-state and transient hydraulic network analysis.
  • Document and present results to peers and outside organizations.
  • Support learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain high quality design.
  • Work with cross-disciplinary teams to analyze thermal and mechanical design considerations for the reactor.
  • Handle complex issues with judgment and minimal supervision.
