Job summary

Dell Technologies, within the Infrastructure Solutions Group, seeks a Thermal Senior Principal Engineer in Franklin, MA or Austin, TX to lead thermal architecture, design, and validation for next‑gen Network Switches (L10) and rack solutions. You will collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and systems teams to deliver innovative cooling for AI, HPC, and cloud workloads.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on thermal engineering; 15 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience in CFD modelling for internal flow and electronic cooling applications.
• Proven experience instrumenting thermal tests and test plans.
• Strong communication skills with multi-disciplinary teams; drive to achieve optimal thermal solutions.
• Desirable: experience with CREO; air and liquid cooling in server/network electronics; knowledge of cooling for GPU/CPU/NPU/rack L11.

Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to align on product requirements, performance metrics, and boundary conditions.
• Develop approaches to evaluate all thermal aspects of product concepts considering prototype availability and schedule constraints.
• Develop thermal solutions internally or with vendor partners including heat sinks, cold plates, air movers, and more.
• Present findings to engineers and management to identify problem areas and opportunities to improve design for cost, power, and cooling efficiency.
• Follow and improve practices for product development.
