Job summary

Intuitive is seeking a Senior Thermal Design Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA, to lead the thermal design, analysis and testing of high-quality mechanical systems. You will influence assembly architecture, design robust mechanisms, and prototype fast while aligning with regulatory requirements.

The role requires strong machine design and analytical skills, experience with kinematics, sensors and safety systems, and the ability to mentor engineers in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Experience planning and executing thermal analyses, testing, and verification.
• Ability to create design documentation for regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• System thermal design, analysis and testing
• Influencing assembly architecture and designing mechanical assemblies with attention to kinematics, motors, sensors and safety
• Rapid development and iteration of full-scale prototypes to satisfy requirements
• Create product functional requirements and design specifications for regulatory environments
• Perform design FMEA
• Design for reliability, cost and manufacturability
• Develop component verification and product validation testing
• Troubleshoot process, component and system issues to support final delivery
• Collaborate with vendors, suppliers and manufacturing during prototype and transfer phases
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members
