Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. seeks a Thermal Engineer for the Data Center Platform Engineering Group to drive thermal design and validation for AMD's data center GPUs. You will collaborate across silicon design, board engineering, and validation teams to deliver robust cooling solutions.

The role requires strong heat transfer knowledge, CFD experience, and hands-on lab skills, with opportunities to influence product cycles and performance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Strong background in heat transfer and fluid dynamics with emphasis on electronics thermal management.
• CFD experience with liquid-cooled systems; Icepak or similar tools required; ANSYS Icepak/AEDT a plus.
• CAD experience; SolidWorks and/or Creo; ability to implement liquid cooling designs for CFD analysis.
• Deep understanding of thermal management design elements including TIM, spreaders, heatsink, vapor chamber, heat pipe, and fan.
• Rack level and Datacenter/server level design experience.
• Experience developing liquid cooling solutions including design of cold plates, liquid interconnects, hoses, manifolds.
• Lab skills: design of experiments, instrumentation, data acquisition, uncertainty analysis.
• Programming: Python, C/C++, MATLAB for data analysis and tool development.
• Excellent communication across engineering and executive levels; cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design thermal solutions for AMD datacenter GPUs.
• Collaborate with silicon, board, and power engineering to create thermal-mechanical solutions from chip to system level.
• Contribute to product lifecycle from concept to mass production.
• Work in a fast-paced product development environment.
• Thermal validation of hardware at chip, card, and system levels.
• Evaluate novel thermal technologies with vendors and internal teams for roadmap alignment.
• Drive process improvements to enable fast time-to-market.
