Job summary

Kay Dee Designs, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Textile Designer to translate licensed and customer artwork into cohesive kitchen textile collections and oversee them from sampling through final production.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in textile or home textiles, a degree in Textile Design or related field, and advanced skills in Photoshop and Illustrator. Portfolio required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional textile, surface, or product design experience; home textiles, kitchen textiles, or giftware experience preferred.
• Degree in Textile Design, Surface Design, Illustration, Fine Arts, or a related field - or equivalent professional experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; InDesign proficiency preferred.
• Strong knowledge of textile production, including color separation, repeats, printing limitations, wovens, embroidery, applique, trims, and product specifications.
• Experience adapting existing artwork across products with different sizes, shapes, materials, and production methods.
• Experience managing multiple collections through sampling, vendor corrections, approvals, and production timelines.
• Strong color sense, artistic judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Edit, manipulate, recolor, clean, and adapt licensed and customer-supplied artwork while preserving the style of the original artist.
• Translate artwork into coordinated collections and place it within established templates for towels, aprons, oven mitts, potholders, table linens, and related products.
• Create seamless repeats, colorways, color separations, typography, borders, and coordinating design elements; prepare accurate production-ready files.
• Apply artwork appropriately across printed textiles, woven constructions, embroidery, applique, trims, and dimensional details.
• Develop original artwork and collection concepts when appropriate.
• Manage assigned and custom customer collections from initial development through specifications, sampling, revisions, approvals, and production.
• Maintain project schedules and meet seasonal, production, and customer-specific deadlines.
• Review strike-offs, lab dips, embroidery and woven samples, trims, and finished products; communicate clear corrections to domestic and overseas vendors.
• Collaborate with design, product development, merchandising, sales, and marketing teams on collections and key-account presentations.
