Job description

About The Role

At Lulu and Georgia, we’re inspired by thoughtful design, elevated materials, and the details that make a home feel personal. We’re looking for a seasoned Staff Textile, Rug, and Bed & Bath Designer to join our Product Development team and help shape the next generation of our core soft goods categories. In this role, you will lead design and development across pillows, throws, rugs, bath textiles, and top-of-bed product. You will work closely with our VP of Product Development through structured creative checkpoints, creating designs for approved concepts, refining design vision, and ensuring every collection reflects our brand’s distinct point of view. This position calls for a visionary designer who can balance beauty with functionality, create with intention, and drive innovation within the home space.

Responsibilities
  • Own the full design process for pillows, throws, some fabric, rugs, bath textiles, and top-of-bed collections
  • Develop seasonal concepts, color palettes, material stories, and pattern direction in deep collaboration with the VP of Product Development
  • Participate in ongoing creative checkpoints to ensure alignment on brand vision, innovation opportunities, and category strategy
  • Produce detailed design specifications, artwork, and technical packages for sampling and production
  • Partner closely with our PD team to bring new textiles, textures, constructions, and finishes to life
  • Conduct continuous trend and market research across interiors, fashion, and global textiles
  • Work with the VP of Product Development to identify emerging themes and translate them into elevated, trend-forward product concepts; ensure all designs support our broader brand direction, seasonal storytelling, and long-term innovation roadmap
  • Work closely with Sourcing and Production teams to ensure quality, materials, and construction meet brand standards and deliver a best-in-class product experience
  • Maintain ongoing communication with internal partners to ensure a cohesive vision from concept through final production
  • Guide all sample development rounds, ensuring aesthetic clarity, quality, and construction integrity
  • Provide actionable, detailed feedback to factories to ensure accuracy and brand alignment at every stage
  • Manage and mentor one freelance designer, offering clear creative direction, feedback, and workflow guidance
  • Ensure all supporting design work reflects Lulu and Georgia’s elevated design standards
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in home textiles, soft goods, rug design, or fashion textiles
  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, or related field preferred
  • A portfolio demonstrating mastery in pattern, color, materiality, and concept development; proven experience collaborating closely with leadership on high-level creative direction
  • Strong understanding of textile development, product timelines, and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Experience managing or mentoring design talent, a plus
  • Must be available to work West Coast hours (LA-based schedule), regardless of location
About You
  • You bring a refined, elevated design perspective grounded in strong market awareness
  • You thrive in a collaborative, creatively driven environment with self-managed checkpoints
  • You balance artistry with commercial sensibility and brand clarity
  • You are flexible and can easily pivot to new endeavors or a change of course
  • You are detail-obsessed, curious, and passionate about shaping beautiful home products
