Job summary

HeartFlow in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to own end-to-end testing of our regulated SaMD platform. You will design automated coverage across ML/AI and clinical computation services, plus UI and reporting layers, while coordinating with offshore test engineers.

The role requires deep automation experience with Selenium and Playwright, Python, and API testing, and a track record in a medical device environment.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in software test engineering or SDET.
• Direct experience testing SaMD or regulated medical device software.
• Knowledge of medical device QMS practices and standards (ISO 13485, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, 21 CFR 820).
• Strong Selenium/WebDriver and Playwright skills with framework design.
• Experience designing E2E automation frameworks for complex workflows.
• Experience with AI-assisted testing tools and AI-generated requirements.
• Proficiency in Python and another language (TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or C#).
• API testing tools experience and CI/CD integration knowledge.
• Excellent communication and traceability across requirements and evidence.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end automated test suites across UI, API, and back-end services.
• Champion AI-first automation strategy with AI-assisted test planning.
• Build daily smoke/build-acceptance tests for core workflows in dev and staging.
• Lead post-deployment testing including production smoke tests and verification.
• Design golden-dataset regression tests for ML pipeline services.
• Build UI automation for WebGL 3D Viewer and UIs using Playwright with visual checks.
• Author clear test plans, protocols, and reports meeting QMS expectations.
• Perform tool validation per internal procedures and standards.
• Maintain UI automation with Selenium and Playwright for stability and reuse.
• Collaborate on API tests (REST Assured, Postman, Karate) including DICOM/HL7 testing.
• Translate requirements into traceable test cases with RA/QA partners.
• Triage failures and drive defect resolution; contribute to quality metrics.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines so tests run reliably with fast feedback.
• Support audits, CAPAs, and regulatory submissions with test evidence.
• Coordinate offshore/contractor test engineers and mentor the team.
