Job summary

Amentum seeks a Lead Test Engineer to support a large-scale Agile software development team for the SLCM-N program in Dahlgren, VA. You will lead software testing activities for mission-critical systems in a collaborative environment using Agile and DevSecOps.

You will develop testing strategies, manage test activities and personnel, support automated testing, and ensure software quality throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a technical field, or 5 years of testing knowledge in lieu of a degree.
• Five years of software engineering experience supporting real-time, software-intensive systems.
• Experience leading testing activities and coordinating a test team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive software test strategies and plans.
• Write and execute test scenarios, cases, scripts, and data.
• Lead testing across multiple levels including exploratory, system, integration, and performance.
• Promote Test-Driven Development within an Agile environment.
• Evaluate and implement test automation tools and frameworks.
• Manage the test team, assign tasks, monitor progress, and mentor staff.
• Review test artifacts for quality and traceability.
• Track defects and coordinate resolution with development teams.
• Report metrics on test coverage, defect density, and automation rate.
• Collaborate with sponsors, end users, contractors, developers, and engineers.
• Provide technical leadership for complex software testing issues.
