Job summary

Emerson Electric Co. in Austin, TX seeks a skilled software engineer to develop instrument drivers, test sequences, and applications using LabVIEW and TestStand for a range of NI and third-party equipment.

You will collaborate with Systems Architects and Electrical Engineering, define and implement system test plans, verify tests for requirements, and provide documentation and hands-on support to customer teams, with occasional domestic and international travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/EE from an accredited institution.
• 5+ years developing test software with LabVIEW/TestStand.
• Experience with PXI chassis and interfacing with analog/digital I/O cards, DMMs, oscilloscopes, RF analyzers/sensors.
• Knowledge of hardware interfaces such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and serial protocols.
• Proficiency in high-level languages: LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#, Python.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and in diverse teams.
• ITAR: U.S. Persons only.

Responsibilities

• Develop instrument drivers, test sequences, and applications using LabVIEW and TestStand for NI and third-party equipment.
• Interface with Systems Architects and Electrical Engineering to guide design for testability.
• Handoff and support software test applications to customer teams, including documentation.
• Define and implement system test plans, manage milestones, and ensure readiness for deployment.
• Verify tests for compliance with and coverage of requirements.
• Travel domestically and abroad as needed.
