Job summary

Stockell Consulting, LLC is seeking a seasoned test software engineer in Austin to develop instrument drivers, test sequences, and LabVIEW/TestStand applications for NI and third-party equipment.

You will work with Systems Architects and Electrical Engineering to guide design for testability and provide handoff and documentation support to customer teams.

Qualifications

• US Citizen only, ability to work on ITAR projects and qualify for DoD clearances.
• B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience developing test software using LabVIEW/TestStand.
• Experience with PXI chassis and interfacing hardware like NI I/O, DMMs, oscilloscopes, RF equipment.
• Knowledge of hardware interfaces such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and serial protocols.
• Understanding of LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#, Python.

Job description

In this role you will be working in a cross-functional development team developing custom test systems for customers. The primary responsibility will be developing instrument drivers, test sequences, and applications using LabVIEW and TestStand for a wide range of NI and third-party test equipment. You will also interface with our Systems Architects and Electrical Engineering team to provide strategic design implementation guidance to best enable testability of our systems. You will be responsible for providing handoff and direct support of software test applications to customer engineering teams, including developing necessary documentation.

• B. S. Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 5 years of experience developing test software using LabVIEW/TestStand
• Experience developing automated test software using PXI chassis and interfacing with some of the following: analog I/O cards, digital I/O cards, DMMs, oscilloscopes, National Instrument’s switching and signal routing systems, data acquisition devices, power supplies, RF analyzers, and RF power sensors
• Knowledge of hardware interfaces, such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and serial communication protocols
• Understanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#, Python)
• Strong work ethic and drive to succeed

Preferred Skills:

• Understanding of electrical engineering, electronics, and computer architectures
• Experience developing and using system electrical schematics
• National Instruments Certification in LabVIEW
• Experience developing in Python, C# or other high-level languages
• Experience providing direct technical support to customers
