Job summary

Viasat is seeking an experienced software engineer in test automation to drive scalable, maintainable test solutions. You will collaborate with engineers across domains to improve frameworks, test strategies, and data standardization, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines to deliver quality software to internal and external customers.

You will develop test software, review code, and design reusable libraries and APIs, with up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or CS, or equivalent
• 5+ years systems and test experience in complex environments
• Experience with version control, build automation, bug tracking, and test-driven development
• Proficiency with National Instruments TestStand and C#
• Experience with Python and test automation
• Ability to create documented reusable libraries and APIs
• Up to 10% travel

Responsibilities

• Digest top-level requirements and ensure they are concise, testable, and realistic
• Derive software requirements from stakeholder needs
• Design and document test software frameworks, services, utilities, libraries, file formats, and standard conventions to allow for long-term test station operation
• Review and test contributions from colleagues
• Participate in continuous improvement to drive development efficiencies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary engineers to create solutions that support the factory
