Job summary

Viasat is seeking an experienced software engineer in test automation to drive scalable test solutions and maintainable frameworks. The role collaborates across engineering teams, supports CI/CD pipelines, and ensures high-quality software for internal and external customers.

You will contribute to test framework development, code reviews, and long-term test data strategy while aligning with software engineering best practices. Domestic travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent technical degree.
• 5+ years of systems and test experience in complex environments.
• Experience developing software in a team with version control, build automation, bug tracking, and test-driven development.
• Strong experience with National Instrument's TestStand and C#.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience implementing test automation, instrument drivers, and other test tools.
• Ability to design and document test plans to demonstrate coverage and compliance.
• Ability to create reusable libraries, abstractions, and APIs.
• Results-driven with accountability and willingness to travel up to 10%.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Digesting top-level requirements and providing concise, testable feedback.
• Deriving software requirements from stakeholder needs.
• Designing and documenting test software frameworks, services, and libraries.
• Reviewing and testing contributions from team members.
• Participating in continuous improvement to drive reuse and efficiency.
• Sharing knowledge of test equipment and instrumentation in software designs.
• Participating in technical discussions and support inquiries.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary engineers to support the factory.
