Job summary

Port Houston in La Porte, TX seeks an Operations Superintendent to oversee vessel, gate, and container yard operations at Barbours Cut Terminal. You will optimize production, safety, and efficiency with proper resource use.

Lead ILA Local 1351 and 28 staff, coordinate 24/7 operations, and set up vessel plans; collaborate with stevedores, trucking, and port police; ensure safety and compliance; report performance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day vessel, gate, and container yard operations.
• Supervise ILA Local 1351 and ILA Local 28 staff including performance, discipline, and recognition.
• Coordinate 24/7 road and terminal operations.
• Set up Vessel Operations plans and locate discharge pad locations.
• Direct movement of port equipment and labor to service road, vessel, and yard trucks.
• Coordinate terminal allocations in Yard Planning Center.
• Perform rail operations duties as designated.
• Maintain relationships with stevedoring and shipping industries.
• Prepare crane bills and review payroll.
• Respond to accidents and investigate causes.
