Job summary

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Washington, DC is seeking a Temple Facilities Manager to lead operations for the temple complex and related buildings. You will supervise staff, ensure safety, cleanliness, and a sacred environment, and uphold standards set by leadership.

Responsibilities include managing capital projects, coordinating with local authorities, reporting on progress and costs, and guiding a team of 15–30 employees.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in facilities management, building industry, project management or a related field.
• Eight years of experience in the facilities management industry, or a total of twelve years combined education and experience.
• Deep understanding of facilities systems and processes such as boiler/chiller servicing & operations, electrical motor controls, audiovisual, electrical distribution, and plumbing systems
• Exceptional verbal and written communication and computer literacy
• Ability to speak and write in English
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• May have physical requirements such as sitting for long periods and using computer monitors/equipment
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Regularly manage the work of other employees (may include mixed workforce)
• Responsible, in partnership with HR, to hire or fire employees and recommend advancement or changes in status
• Typically manages 15-30 employees with three or more supervisors reporting to them
• Responsible for maintenance of the temple and ancillary buildings (~100k sq ft)
• Maintain standards at all times during peak usage and when the temple is closed
• Manage expectations of ~5-6 key stakeholders
• Provide on-site and remote training, coaching, and mentoring
• Implement temple maintenance guides and improved methods, systems, and equipment
• Create and execute annual plans overseeing costs, maintenance, and repairs of electrical, mechanical, AV, and computer systems
• Manage department labor costs and third-party relationships
• Participate in final close-out procedures for projects
• Ensure projects conform to design documents and standards
• Communicate with Temple President, leaders, local governments, architects, and contractors
• Provide regular status reports on project progress, quality, issues, and procurement
• Monitor project schedules to ensure timely completion
