Description
The Senior Teller provides superior member service. The role performs all functions of an MSR/Teller as well as other duties requiring additional knowledge and experience, such as opening new accounts, cross-selling credit union products and services, processing clerical work, assisting the MSR/Tellers with complex balancing and other work-related issues. In addition, responds to questions, provides information upon request from internal or external members, and engages with members and potential members so they understand and utilize TFCU products and services. In the absence of the Senior MSR or Branch Manager, the Senior Teller will perform all of their required duties. This role may need to support work at other TFCU locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist members with opening and closing accounts, answer questions about products and services, and resolve problems within their authority. Process loan applications and disburse loans. Refer challenging problems beyond their authority to the Branch Manager. Perform all teller duties including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cash advances, and transfers. Disburse money orders, traveler's checks, and cashier's checks. Greet members and determine how they may be assisted.
- Answer questions and resolve complex problems presented by MSR/Tellers or other staff. Use tact and experience-based knowledge to resolve issues or conflicts. Explain policies and procedures while maintaining positive relations. Maintain confidentiality of account and member information.
- Ensure friendly, prompt, professional, and accurate service to all members and associates.
- Ensure all transactions are balanced at the end of each business day. Assist in resolving balancing issues and authorize over/short adjustments. Verify cash as necessary. Perform end-of-day duties including check scanning. Approve and verify cash shipments. Manage the branch cash vault and ensure cash limits are maintained. Prepare and balance all negotiable instruments.
- Develop and improve the knowledge and skills of MSR/Tellers. Educate members on TFCU benefits and recommend suitable products or services.
- Process transactions accurately with minimal errors. Maintain secure control of cash and negotiable items. Ensure ATM uptime exceeds 99%.
- Conduct training sessions for new and existing staff. Open and close the branch as assigned. Ensure equipment is operational and coordinate repairs. Provide Notary Public and Signature Guarantee services as discretioned by the Branch Manager.
- Ensure branch settlement including ATM processing, balancing, and replenishment. Research and resolve teller differences. Prepare audits and logs.
- Maintain a qualified staff to meet member demands. Exhibit service behaviors exceeding expectations.
- Provide educational information and advice on credit union products. Identify cross-selling opportunities and recommend appropriate products.
- Coordinate with other departments to satisfy member needs. Refer members to other departments or vendors as needed.
- Monitor compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. Improve operational methods. Assist with staff scheduling and prioritization. Ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Adhere to policies and legal requirements including BSA/AML and OFAC. Maintain security and accuracy of assets.
- Keep management informed of key issues. Provide feedback on employee performance. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain a professional work environment and appearance. Support management in achieving business goals. Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Two-year college degree or specialized training preferred.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Trust, diplomacy, courtesy, tact. Extensive personal contact. Motivating and influencing others. Ability to foster relationships with external entities.
Other Skills:
- Good communication skills (verbal and written). Proficient with office equipment. Accurate with attention to detail.
Work Environment
