Job summary

AlphaHire is seeking a Senior Tekla Detailer in Austin, TX to lead structural steel modeling and detailing from design through fabrication. The role blends hands-on Tekla detailing with technical leadership, quality control, workflow development, and team mentorship.

The ideal candidate has extensive Tekla Structures experience in a structural steel fabrication environment and understands shop drawings, erection drawings, fabrication packages, connection detailing, and production coordination.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of structural steel detailing experience with advanced Tekla Structures proficiency.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising structural steel detailers.
• Strong understanding of fabrication, connection detailing, and shop drawing production.
• Ability to read structural drawings, architectural plans, and engineering documents.

Responsibilities

• Create and review Tekla models, shop drawings, erection drawings, and fabrication packages.
• Establish and improve Tekla standards, templates, workflows, and drawing production.
• Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to steel detailers.
• Train team members and conduct quality reviews for consistent detailing practices.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, estimators, fabrication teams, and production personnel.
• Review documents for accuracy and completeness; perform QC on Tekla models.
• Address RFIs, revisions, and detailing issues with fabrication and field teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, templates, automation, and efficiency.
• Assist with workload planning, project scheduling, and prioritization.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality and productivity.
