Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. seeks a Pharmacy Informatics leader to provide clinical software leadership, focusing on Epic Willow and related functions.

This role supports medication management, order entry, knowledgebases, decision support, and automation across the organization, reporting to Information Services leadership. Required qualifications include a Doctorate in Pharmacy, EPIC Willow Certification, and 7 years in clinical applications and hospital pharmacy settings;

Qualifications

• Doctorate Pharmacy required with PA license upon hire.
• 7 years of clinical applications or direct Epic Build, implementation and support.
• 5 years as hospital pharmacist in a large hospital/IDN.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical software leadership on medium to large projects.
• Maintains understanding of project priorities and scope.
• Coaches Technology Pharmacists to standardize workflows.
• Stays updated on technology advancements and recommends tools.
• Leads unit/functional/integration testing and governance discussions.
• Develops standards and procedures to improve departmental function.
• Implements strategies to meet future information needs of LVHN.
• Follows project management methodology.

Job Details

Exhibits the highest degree of expertise in acute care pharmacy operations, clinical informatics, Epic Willow and related functions. Clinical software expert in medication management, order entry, clinical knowledgebases, decision support and automation. Provides clinical software leadership, in area(s) of specialization, on projects as required. May act as a subject matter expert in a business and/or functional area to help the user in defining their needs. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems utilizing knowledge of their areas(s) of specialization. May have duties instructing, directing and/or checking the work of others as it relates to their area of specialization. Expected to focus 80% or more time engaged in supporting Epic design, build, testing and support. Reports to Manager or Director level in Information Services.

Job Duties

• Provides clinical software leadership, in area(s) of specialization, on medium to large size projects as required
• Maintains understanding of user, project leader, and management direction and meets regularly to review project priorites and scope
• Functions as a coach and mentor to Technology Pharmacists to achieve workflow standardization and design across the organization
• Stays abreast of technological advancements. Researches and recommends new tools and alternatives to improve access and efficiency within the organization.
• Coordinates and leads others in process of unit, functional, and integration testing.
• Leads discussion in team and departmental committees providing data and system governance.
• Develops, leads/coordinates conventions, standards, and procedures to improve departmental function.
• Develops and implements strategies and methodologies to meet the future information needs of LVHN.
• Follows current project management methodology and assures all team members to do the same.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctorate Pharmacy
• 7 years Clinical applications or direct Epic Build, implementation and support
• 5 years Hospital pharmacists in a large hospital/IDN or
• Completion of a PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics Residency
• Exhibits highly developed self-management skills and ability to deal with multiple and changing priorities.
• Analytical skills to assess clinical/business problems and develop feasible solutions.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Team leadership.
• RP - Registered Pharmacist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
• EPIC Willow Certification - Epic Systems Within 120 Days

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
