Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Associate Business Contracts Officer to provide advanced contract administration for technology agreements, software licenses, and related documents. The role reports to the Business Contracts Administrator and requires strong legal and negotiating skills.

Active Texan bar licensure and 10+ years of legal experience in contract lifecycle management are essential.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor and licensure by Texas state bar.
• 10+ years of legal experience.
• Experience in contract administration and procurement at higher education or government.

Responsibilities

• Provide contract administration for routine and complex technology contracts, including software licenses and SaaS.
• Draft and create contracts for goods/services and nondisclosure.
• Interpret and advise on FERPA, HIPAA, GDPR, data use, IP, and accessibility.
• May supervise at least one direct report in contract review and negotiation.
• Develop and present contract workshops for university administrators.
• Maintain and develop policies related to technology contracts and stay updated on regulatory changes.
• Ensure compliance with Texas and federal laws, Regents' Rules, and university policies.
• Collaborate with departments and vendors to align contracts with business objectives.
