WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The Senior Technology Consultant is a critical resource of the ZBeta CSG and will both lead individual projects, lead other consultants, and contribute to the development of overall program capability and maturity. The Senior Technology Consultant acts as a leader in the ZBeta CSG program and independently develops, manages, and facilitates key projects. The Senior Technology Consultant is a subject matter expert in physical security platforms, equipment and components, applications, and integrations. This role will engage both internally and externally, working collaboratively with other ZBeta resources like the innovation lab, with project and production team members, and with client teams by leading consulting efforts to select, architect, and optimize integrated security technology solutions. The Senior Technology Consultant will help grow, mature, and optimize the CSG program and its team members by contributing to the generation of new technology ideas, concepts, and approaches to help solve the security and business challenges of ZBeta clients and the physical security industry.
The Senior Technology Consultant works with clients to understand and lead the clarification of project needs and goals. This role seeks to understand, identify, and plan resources and deliverables needed to successfully execute each engagement and initiative. The role provides oversight to ensure that clients’ needs are met, and consulting deliverables comply with the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.
Position Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
ZBeta Lab Environment
- In partnership with ZBeta LabZ team, help build and maintain a ZBeta test/dev environment of technology solutions that represent both client and industry standards.
Solution Testing
- Work with ZBeta LabZ team and client resources to plan, implement, and conduct hands-on testing of physical security products, applications and functions, and integrated solutions.
- Lead the development of test concept and vision to address client and industry needs, challenges, & opportunities.
- Manage and execute testing scope related to server, application, and IoT elements.
- Create test plans and testing requirement documentation, record and analyze testing results, and document outcomes and conclusions in testing reports.
Research & Study
- Conduct study and analysis of technology categories, trends, solution proposals, and industry approaches.
- Contribute to the production of case studies, reports, and presentations for consumption by clients, industry professionals, and internal partners.
- Research, collect, and analyze relevant documentation and data to reach meaningful conclusions, address topical challenges, form opinions of value propositions, generate ideas for solutions and approach improvement, and categorize study topics in terms of potential application and impact on client and industry needs and expectations.
Internal Consulting & Production Design Support
- Lead ZBeta consulting staff, project managers, and production engineers in their execution of project-specific designs and solutions by assessing current state conditions, defining system requirements, identifying and analyzing equipment and solutions that fit project needs, developing architecture, communication, and wiring solutions, and defining device and application configuration settings as required.
- Act as a liaison between internal project teams and the manufacturer's technical resources, and lead troubleshooting and technology issue/problem resolution.
External Consulting & Solution Configuration
- Lead efforts for the development of client technology solutions, standards, and policies. Conduct client-specific studies and document and present findings.
- Make recommendations and create plans for the integration and optimization of client systems and applications.
- Perform hands-on configuration of client software platforms and devices, as well as manage consultants’ efforts for system analysis, study, implementation, programming, and software training services.
Technical Writing
- Author, review, and oversee the production of report and presentation documents for client projects, including the following content: assessment and research findings; study analysis results and conclusions; and program and technology options and recommendations.
- Demonstrate ability to envision, plan, and author high-quality reports and presentation documents for client management and executive audiences.
Leadership
- Leads teammates both directly as a supervisor and influentially as a peer with ZBeta values and culture in mind.
- Support the development of team members and facilitate effective feedback communication across the team.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Experience:
- 10+ years of physical security industry experience, with a demonstrated track record designing, developing, and implementing successful security technology solutions for end users
- Experience across multiple industries, verticals, and business environments
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of and working familiarity with server and network storage solutions, operating systems architecture and key considerations, and network architecture models and principles
- Knowledge of and working familiarity with cybersecurity principles, standards, vulnerabilities, and risks
- Professional knowledge of and training in the principles of electrical systems, components, and circuits
Skills:
- Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote and Visio
- Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu and Studio is a plus
- Training and manufacturer certification in multiple industry-leading platforms and equipment components, with particular emphasis on software applications and network-connected security devices, Genetec and LenelS2 experience a plus
- Industry recognized certifications, such as PSP and CPP a plus
Abilities:
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to communicate and present complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form
- Strong technical documentation, technical writing, and data analysis and interpretation skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify critical path activities, prioritize tasks and deliverables, and realize consistent progress

- Candidates must be able to meet client and/or government security screening requirements for the role
- This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship.
- The successful completion of a background check is required upon hire and every two years thereafter
