Job summary

Precision Castparts in Portland, OR seeks an experienced professional to plan, schedule, supervise and perform procedures, inspections and experiments to test materials and determine properties of ceramics, waxes, metals and alloys.

This role requires applying in‑depth knowledge to solve complex problems, leading major projects, coordinating technicians, analyzing data, and preparing technical reports while collaborating with customers and vendors.

Qualifications

• 6-7 years relevant experience or AS/AA degree with 5-7 years or BS degree with 2-3 years experience.
• Strong knowledge of scientific principles and laboratory techniques.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to apply diverse procedures under general directions and work independently.
• Experience developing new techniques in the major field.
• Knowledge of NDTE, quality and material testing equipment (preferred).
• Hazardous waste training may be required.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SolidWorks and MiniTAB preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide solutions to complex problems by applying diverse techniques and managing multi-faceted systems.
• Review customer requirements and assess cost, lead time, and compliance capability.
• Plan, schedule, complete and evaluate large projects; create manufacturing instructions and routings.
• Gather, record, analyze and summarize data; prepare technical reports.
• Provide technical supervision and liaison with other departments, customers and vendors.
