Job summary

Contiem, Inc. in Annapolis, MD, is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to lead documentation across multiple client projects. The ideal candidate has 15+ years of experience, strong writing skills for technical and non-technical audiences, and expertise with DITA/XML, CCMS, and XML tooling.

You will mentor junior writers, collaborate with SMEs and project managers, and ensure documentation meets client standards and usability goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, journalism, communications, or related field is required.
• 15+ years of technical writing experience with leadership over projects.
• Ability to gather data from engineers, developers, and CAD/design docs.
• Strong writing for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with CCMS and XML/DITA-based documentation.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and XML tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead large documentation projects from planning to publication.
• Define content models and simplify authoring processes.
• Collaborate with SMEs, PMs, and writers to ensure standards and audience suitability.
• Mentor junior writers and share best practices.
• Ensure accuracy and adherence to client and Contiem standards.
• Utilize CMSs to create and manage docs.
