Job summary

Google Cloud seeks a Technical Writer to unite product, engineering, and UX to craft clear, user-centered documentation. You will develop API references, cybersecurity guides, and tutorials, translating complex concepts into accessible content for developers and customers.

You will lead documentation strategy, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and ensure high-quality, discoverable content that accelerates user success across Google Cloud offerings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field.
• 6 years of experience creating content for technical audiences.
• Experience using UNIX/Linux CLI.

Responsibilities

• Work with Product, Engineering, and UX/UI to determine documentation requirements.
• Lead content strategy and define workstreams focused on critical user journeys.
• Write, publish, and maintain customer-facing documentation including references, online content, guides, and tutorials.
• Define documentation requirements with teams and collaborate with engineers to create/update content.
• Edit and clarify documents written by engineers and stakeholders.

Job description

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or IT administration playbooks).
• Experience in using the UNIX/Linux Command-Line Interface (CLI).

Preferred qualifications

• 10 years of experience in technical writing, creating clear, concise, and technically accurate documentation for SaaS, enterprise security, or computer networking.
• Experience documenting APIs and database design concepts.
• Experience with XML-based documentation authoring systems.
• Ability to articulate ideas clearly and collaborate across cross-functional teams while prioritizing and driving results in ambiguous environments with competing demands.
• Excellent communication, organizational and time-management skills.
