Job summary

Aptive is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer/Editor to develop and maintain documentation for the program's informatics work across the VHA. You will produce SOPs, user guides, training materials, knowledge base content, and government deliverables within a SAFe Agile environment.

You will gather information from subject matter experts and source material, ensure terminology consistency, and deliver clear, audience-appropriate content for technical and clinical staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required.
• Eight (8) years of professional technical writing and editing experience.
• Strong experience with computer-based systems and technical documentation.
• Demonstrated understanding of medical and healthcare industry terminology.
• Ability to produce user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports.
• Experience editing functional descriptions, system specifications, and formal customer deliverables.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required VA background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and maintain standard operating procedures, user and support guides, training and upskilling materials, configuration and workflow documentation, reports, and program deliverables.
• Gather, analyze, and compose technical information from subject matter experts, system documentation, meeting notes, and program artifacts.
• Edit descriptions, system specifications, and customer deliverables for accuracy and clarity.
• Translate technical and clinical content into clear material for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Maintain version control, documentation libraries, knowledge base content, and style guidance.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and manage documentation work within team plans.
• Track deliverable due dates and coordinate stakeholder and government reviews to final acceptance.
• Support executive and program communications products, including briefing decks and status reports.
