Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA seeks an experienced Senior/Principal Technical Writer & Editor for a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include editing, translating, and formatting highly technical content for a nuclear deterrence program.

You will collaborate with SMEs, manage document workflows, and ensure compliance with communication policies while delivering reports and presentations for program reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus five years of technical writing and editing experience, or Master's degree plus one year.
• Experience editing documents and managing their development.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software; ability to obtain a DOE Q-level clearance.

Responsibilities

• Edit and translate technical information into concise language for a national security program.
• Work with editors, SMEs, and management to ensure content meets audience needs.
• Manage document workflows, negotiate expectations, and uphold standards.
• Perform quality control on documents for external distribution and coordinate releases.
• Gather accomplishments, produce monthly reports, and assist with program reviews.
• Interview subjects and consult related publications to acquire subject knowledge.
• Collaborate with a technical team to anticipate documentation needs and provide support.
• Record actions during critical meetings and interact with leadership and visitors.
