Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA is seeking a Senior/Principal Technical Writer & Editor to join a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team onsite. You will edit, translate, and format highly technical content for nuclear deterrence programs, collaborating with SMEs, management, and leadership to ensure accurate, audience-focused materials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or related field with 5+ years of technical writing and editing.
• Experience editing documents and managing their development.
• Experience with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Edit and translate technical information into concise language for a national security program.
• Write, format, and edit highly technical content using Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio.
• Collaborate with writers, SMEs, and management to meet audience needs.
• Manage document workflows, define customer needs, and uphold standards.
• Coordinate documentation release and provide monthly reports.
• Interview subjects, observe experiments, and verify knowledge for docs.
• Embed within a technical team to anticipate documentation needs.
• Record actions during meetings and reviews.
• Interact with colleagues, leadership, and senior officials with attention to detail.
