Senior Technical Writer—Needed---Local to Bay area California Needed
Need to be onsite once a week.
The IT Technical Writer, Senior plans, creates, manages, and delivers targeted, custom documentation and content management solutions that serve the needs of IT and business clients internal and external to their own organizations. Working independently, the demonstrates advanced knowledge and technical competence in a senior professional level role, and applies advanced technical skills to multiple, complex projects as a subject matter expert and project leader across departments.
Job Responsibilities
Content Management
Provides strategic, tactical, and operational consulting for document/content management technologies and services for internal/external clients.
Designs, develops, and manages SharePoint sites.
Designs document management structures; develops metadata tagging, custom lists, taxonomies, and retention processes; and maintains departmental document systems.
Independently analyzes business processes and provides recommendations for improvement.
Document/Project Management
Identifies client’s documentation/business needs, scope, audience, deadlines and key stakeholders for internal, external, special projects and initiatives.
Supports project Delivery: deliverables, schedules, and resource requirements in project plans.
Spearheads solutions and obtains client/stakeholder feedback.
Interviews and collaborates with SMEs to develop and update documentation and other content management services.
Develops document content, custom lists, document workflows, and taxonomies; and facilitates reviews and revisions.
Maintains documents in IT content repositories including OneDrive, SharePoint, and the Guidance Document Library
Produces final documents for internal/external clients using standardized templates and established formats.
Collaborates with SME to ensure the technical accuracy and quality of the content.
Deliverables
Produces technical Manuals and Guides, including Administration, Configuration, Installation, Operation, Standards, Guidelines, Procedure, Process, and User.
Produces Compliance material, including Configuration Manuals (CMs), Process Manuals (PMs), Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs) Operations Level Agreements (OLAs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Produces collateral material, such as executive/customer presentations, communication plans, brochures, white papers, and leave-behinds.
Designs and produces instructional material, including manuals, tutorials, job aids, etc.
Produces Word, Excel, and PowerPoint templates.
Supports IT Methodology Project and Guidance Document Initiative (GDI) templates.
Produces Graphics: flowcharts, organization charts, logos, photographs, etc.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Education: High School diploma.
Desired: BA/BS in Computer Science, English, Technical Writing, or any related field.
5 to 7 years of experience in content management, process improvement, and project management in the development of a wide range of IT documentation deliverables.
Skills:
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of relevant technical/professional concepts
