Job summary

Links Technology Solutions, Inc. seeks a Technical Writer III for aerospace and defense projects. This remote contract role involves collaborating with engineers and program managers to produce clear, professional manuals, procedures, and documentation supporting complex programs.

The position emphasizes translating complex systems into comprehensive, audience-appropriate content with strong editing, formatting, and graphics skills. Prior DoD/aerospace exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of technical writing principles, practices, and standards.
• Experience producing professional technical documentation.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, including desktop publishing and document formatting.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Adobe publishing and editing tools.
• Experience creating technical documents containing graphics, tables, diagrams, and other embedded content.
• Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and development teams.
• Strong ability to understand complex technical information and translate it into clear documentation.
• Excellent editing, proofreading, organization, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, edit, format, and maintain technical documentation for aerospace and defense systems.
• Collaborate with engineers, program managers, and subject matter experts to gather information.
• Create operations, maintenance, technical, and procedural manuals and related documentation.
• Review drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, and CAD models to understand system functionality.
• Develop initial documentation and templates with minimal direction from subject matter experts.
• Host and participate in internal and external documentation review meetings.
• Incorporate technical feedback and revisions into documentation.
• Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent, audience-appropriate, and compliant with standards.
• Create and maintain documentation templates, layout guides, and graphics resources.
• Support preparation of CDRLs, technical documentation, test plans, procedures, and manuals as needed.
• Review and edit proposals, RFP responses, technical materials, and other documentation.
• Work within multidisciplinary design and development teams.
