**Technical Writer III – Aerospace & Defense** **Location: REMOTE** **Duration:**Contract **Pay Rate:** $47.71 HR **Schedule:**Monday - Friday (40 hours per week) **Benefits:**Health Benefits, 401k matching, 10 days accrued PTO Our client is a leading organization within the aerospace and defense industry supporting highly advanced programs spanning mission systems, electronic systems, aircraft, and space exploration technologies. We are seeking an experienced **Technical Writer III** to join a multidisciplinary engineering and development environment. This individual will work closely with engineers, program managers, and other subject matter experts to develop clear, accurate, and professional technical documentation supporting complex aerospace and defense programs. **Role Overview** The Technical Writer III will work with subject matter experts to develop an in-depth understanding of complex systems and translate technical information into comprehensive documentation for a variety of audiences. Responsibilities will include developing and maintaining operations and maintenance manuals, technical documentation, supplements, procedures, and related program documentation using engineering drawings, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and CAD models. The successful candidate will also facilitate recurring documentation review meetings and work collaboratively with internal and external teams to gather feedback and incorporate revisions. **Primary Responsibilities*** Develop, edit, format, and maintain technical documentation for complex aerospace and defense systems.* Collaborate with engineers, program managers, and subject matter experts to gather and interpret technical information.* Create operations, maintenance, technical, and procedural manuals and related documentation.* Review engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, and CAD models to understand system functionality.* Develop initial documentation and templates with minimal direction from subject matter experts.* Host and participate in internal and external documentation review meetings.* Incorporate technical feedback and revisions into documentation.* Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent, audience-appropriate, and compliant with applicable standards.* Create and maintain documentation templates, layout guides, and graphics resources.* Support preparation of CDRLs, technical documentation, test plans, procedures, and operations manuals as needed.* Review and edit proposals, RFP responses, technical materials, and other organizational documentation.* Work effectively within multidisciplinary design and development teams.**Required Skills*** Bachelor's degree in a related field and typically 6+ years of relevant experience; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.* Strong knowledge of technical writing principles, practices, and standards.* Demonstrated experience producing professional technical documentation.* Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, including desktop publishing and document formatting capabilities.* Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.* Experience with Adobe publishing and editing tools.* Experience creating technical documents containing graphics, tables, diagrams, and other embedded content.* Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and development teams.* Strong ability to understand complex technical information and translate it into clear documentation.* Excellent editing, proofreading, organization, and communication skills.**Preferred Qualifications*** Experience with Adobe FrameMaker.* Experience preparing CDRLs, technical documentation, test plans, procedures, and technical/operations manuals.* Experience working with engineering teams and obtaining technical information directly from subject matter experts.* Experience creating and maintaining documentation templates and layout standards.* Knowledge of technical reference documentation, data libraries, training materials, and process/procedure guides.* Experience reviewing and formatting business proposals, RFP responses, product documentation, or marketing communications.* Previous experience within the Aerospace & Defense or Department of Defense (DoD) industry.**#IND1**
