Job summary

Carter’s is seeking a Lead Technical Trainer/Writer to lead field training efforts, draft manuals from vendor data, and verify FRA requirements for railcar operations. You will manage course logistics, coordinate vendors and instructors, travel up to 20%, and deliver up-to-date materials.

A BA/BS and five years in technical training are required. Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint, plus experience with FrameMaker or graphic tools, is a plus; strong written and verbal communication is

Qualifications

BA or BS degree required.
Formal technical training (e.g., military electronic courses) is a plus.
Minimum five (5) years of experience conducting technical training.
Prior rail car experience strongly preferred.
Flexible approach to problem solving in the field.
Able to travel a minimum of 20%.
Able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience with Adobe FrameMaker and/or vector graphics (CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator or AutoCAD) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Leads Kawasaki training efforts in the field.
Drafts training materials based on vendor data, drafts manuals and on‑car observations.
Verifies that all applicable FRA requirements are fulfilled, including 49 CFR 238.109.
Proofreads and edits vendor documents to ensure training materials are complete and up‑to‑date.
When multiple KRC instructors are used, clearly delineates specific areas of responsibility for each instructor.
Manages all logistical requirements for courses, ensuring support personnel, tools, and consumables are available.
Ensures vendors and subcontractors maintain quality requirements by observing classroom activities.
Delivers KRC training classes covering familiarization, FRA requirements, subsystem integration, and interface.
Provides consistent point‑of‑contact between KRC, vendors, and the Authority.
Writes letters to KHI, vendors, and authorities as directed.
Coordinates training classes at authority sites and verifies proper documentation and equipment.
Contacts Engineering Department technical personnel to answer participants' questions.
Updates and ensures all contract training deliverables are turned over to the Authority on time.
Assists in designing course curricula and working schedules for new contracts.
Presents written evaluations of course and instructor effectiveness after each course.
Assists the Manager of Training and Manuals and Assistant Manager of Training with staff development.
