Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is helping Blue Bird Academy appoint a Senior Technical Trainer and Curriculum Developer to own technical training design and delivery for dealer technicians across vehicle systems and EV technologies.

The role requires hands-on field service expertise, proficiency in electrical diagnostics, and a track record of developing curricula that boost technician performance. It offers a high-visibility training function within a mission-driven manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on experience as a Field Service Engineer or Field Service Technician.
• 5+ years of experience as a Technical Trainer, preferably automotive/heavy vehicle.
• 3+ years curriculum development experience for technical training programs.
• High-level proficiency in low- and high-voltage electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Proficiency in instructional design and MS Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel).
• Experience with CAN bus diagnostics including J1939 and OBD2 (preferred).
• Electric or alternative-powered vehicle experience (preferred).
• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive training curriculum including Instructor's Guides, Workbooks, Presentations, and post-training resources for dealer technicians.
• Lead technical content collection and development across online and in-person training formats.
• Advise and collaborate with instructional designers on content asset collection and course structure.
• Organize and deliver in-person training sessions and remote webinar-based training programs.
• Monitor field service ticket trends and engineering updates to keep training curricula current and accurate.
• Collaborate with Field Service Engineering to validate content accuracy and relevance before deployment.
• Assess training effectiveness using performance metrics and technician feedback, and modify programs accordingly.
• Provide technical mentorship and support to trainees during and after program completion.
