Job summary

Onto Innovation is seeking a Technical Instructor to design and deliver training to ONTO service engineers and customers from our Bloomington, MN office. Travel to field sites (domestic and international) for on-the-job training and certification is required, with 30–50% travel anticipated.

The role emphasizes instructional design, classroom and lab instruction, and collaboration with engineering and manufacturing to ensure up-to-date content reflecting current product features.

Qualifications

• Fluent English verbal & written is mandatory (TOEFL scores accepted).
• Minimum 5 years’ Technical Training experience desired.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency required.
• Video editing/processing software is desired.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; passport or entry permission required.

Responsibilities

• Designs Training Courses for customers and ONTO service engineers.
• Conducts technical training courses for customers and/or ONTO service engineers.
• Interacts with customer and functional organizations to develop course content specifications.
• Prepares lesson plans from engineering documentation, field service requirements or software documentation.
• Represents training with engineering, technical support, and manufacturing to reflect current product features.
• Instructs participants in classroom lectures and laboratory sessions.
• Follows up to ensure course material remains current and relevant.
• Maintains training tools and resolves equipment issues during or outside class.
• Willing to travel to field to provide OJT training and worldwide service engineer certification (approx. 30–50%).

Job Summary & Responsibilities

Technical Instructor will work in the Bloomington MN office reporting to the Sr Manager Technical Training (in Budd Lake NJ). Relocation assistance available upon approvals. This position is a full-time Technical Training Instructor responsible for delivering training materials to ONTO Service Engineers and Customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in instructional design, stand-up instruction, development of technical documentation, and experience in Task List Based equipment training, experience in Field Service support is also preferred.

• Maintains training tool operational readiness and resolves any issues that may arise with the equipment during or outside of class.
• Must be willing to travel to field to provide OJT training, customer training and service engineer certification worldwide. Travel is based on demand and can be approximately 30-50%.

Qualifications

• Fluent English verbal & written is mandatory TOEFL scores accepted
• Minimum 5 years’ Previous Technical Training experience is desired.
• Candidate should be familiar with all Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
• Candidate familiar with video editing/processing software is desired
• Candidate should be prepared to travel both domestically and internationally and have a current Passport or entry permission.
• Electrical/electronics background
• Reading electrical schematic diagrams
• Optics or Physics is helpful for understanding but not always necessary.
• Electrical equipment like Digital Multi-meters, and use of Oscilloscopes.
