Persons in these roles are expected to work from our offices in Seattle.
Our base salary range is $119,520 - $179,288, and in addition we have generous bonus plans to provide a competitive compensation package.

The Allen Institute for AI (Ai2) is seeking a Senior Technical Recruiter to join our People Operations team.

We are looking for an experienced technical recruiter who is eager to identify strong, diverse talent for a variety of technical positions, including, but not limited to: AI Research Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and frontend and backend software engineers.This position will serve as our internal frontline resource for both hiring managers and candidates to effectively identify matches for Ai2’s current and future openings.

Who We Are:

We are a small, agile team of HR professionals recruiting and retaining great talent that is committed to changing the world for the better. Our team includes People Operations Business Partners, a People Operations Manager (Total Rewards) and a People Operations Coordinator and a Recruiting Coordinator (reporting to you) reporting up to our Head of People.

Due to the nature of this role, this position will operate relatively independently as an island of excellence to really drive recruiting forward.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the recruiting efforts of Ai2 to recruit and retain top-tier technical talent from leading institutions and universities, with an extra emphasis on Research Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to identify, scope out, and recruit for highly technical, critical roles across the organization.
  • Develop recruiting plans to ensure we adopt a best in class recruiting system that builds candidate pipelines, streamlines loop interviews, and ensures all candidates are valued.Manage the full cycle hiring process from sourcing to offers for multiple requisitions simultaneously.
  • Lead Ai2’s partnership with third party recruiting agencies as need arises and build strong relationships that serve both parties.
  • Use data to solve problems in all areas of recruiting and define success, translate metrics into usable insights for hiring managers and leadership.Develop and engage a high-quality, diverse pipeline of candidates for immediate and future openings by leveraging a variety of sourcing strategies, including social media, internet sourcing, and networking.
  • Identify areas of manual procedure and adopt efficiencies to automate processes when possible.
  • Improve processes and efficiencies and champion innovative talent acquisition ideas with regards to top of funnel activity and high fidelity throughput.Ensure an impressive candidate experience through top-tier communication and timely feedback, as well as interviewer preparedness and effective interview formatting.Advise and train managers on recruiting best practices to ensure we are equitable and consistent in our hiring processes.
  • Represent Ai2 at technical sourcing conferences and serve as the face of the recruiting team.
  • Manage and mentor the recruiting coordinator in ways that promote upward growth and strong performance.
  • Assist in recruiting non-technical roles as resources allow.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Human Resources, Communications, Business or similar preferred
  • 8+ years of successful full-cycle recruiting with at least 3+ years of recruiting Research Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers.
  • Experience recruiting at a top tier research institute or leading AI organization is preferred
  • Experience with grant based hiring is a plus.
  • Familiarity and comfort with a data driven environment, ability to use metrics to guide decision making and strategy setting.
  • Proven success delivering innovative sourcing and recruiting methods.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively - We are a highly collaborative organization.
  • Deliver results with agility- We prioritize work that drives long-term value.
  • Experience with Greenhouse is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
