Resolve Tech Solutions is seeking a highly technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead the delivery of complex software and technology initiatives from planning through production. This role requires more than traditional project management experience—we are looking for someone with a strong software engineering background, preferably with hands-on full-stack development experience, who can effectively bridge the gap between engineering teams, business stakeholders, clients, and leadership.
The ideal candidate understands how modern applications are designed, developed, integrated, tested, deployed, and supported. You should be comfortable discussing architecture and technical tradeoffs with engineers while also translating technical concepts, dependencies, risks, and timelines into clear business terms.
This role is ideal for a former or current Full-Stack Developer, Software Engineer, Technical Lead, or Solutions Engineer who has transitioned into technical project/program management or has significant experience leading software delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex software development and technology projects, from requirements and technical discovery through development, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
- Partner closely with software engineers, architects, product owners, QA teams, DevOps/Cloud engineers, and business stakeholders to establish project scope, technical requirements, milestones, and delivery plans.
- Drive technical discussions around application architecture, APIs, integrations, databases, cloud infrastructure, security, scalability, and deployment strategies.
- Translate business requirements into actionable technical workstreams and ensure engineering teams have clearly defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Manage project plans, sprint execution, dependencies, risks, issues, resource requirements, and delivery timelines across multiple technical workstreams.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, technical reviews, retrospectives, and release planning.
- Work directly with engineering teams to identify technical blockers, dependencies, integration challenges, and architectural risks before they impact delivery.
- Coordinate application releases across development, QA, staging, and production environments.
- Partner with DevOps and engineering teams on CI/CD processes, release management, environment readiness, and production deployments.
- Manage integrations between internal systems, third-party platforms, APIs, databases, and cloud services.
- Communicate project status, technical risks, dependencies, and delivery forecasts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Challenge estimates and delivery assumptions when necessary based on an understanding of software development complexity and dependencies.
- Ensure appropriate technical documentation, architecture diagrams, API documentation, release notes, and operational handoffs are completed.
- Support incident resolution and root-cause analysis for critical production issues when project or release-related problems arise.
- Continuously improve software delivery processes, engineering collaboration, and project execution practices.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software development, technical project management, engineering delivery, or a related technology role.
- 3+ years of experience leading software development projects or cross-functional technical initiatives.
- Strong technical background with hands-on software development experience strongly preferred.
- Previous experience as a Full-Stack Developer, Software Engineer, Technical Lead, Solutions Engineer, or similar technical role is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of modern full-stack application development, including:
- Front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue
- Back-end technologies such as Java, .NET/C#, Node.js, Python, or similar
- RESTful APIs, microservices, and system integrations
- Relational and/or NoSQL databases
- Git and modern source-control practices
- Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
- Ability to understand system architecture diagrams, API specifications, database designs, application dependencies, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile/Scrum methodologies, testing strategies, release management, and production support.
- Experience managing projects involving multiple applications, integrations, engineering teams, or external technology vendors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly understand complex technical problems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, architects, executives, clients, and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver complex initiatives in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Prior hands-on experience building and deploying production software applications.
- Experience working with microservices and distributed system architectures.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native development.
- Experience managing enterprise integrations and API-driven platforms.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab, or similar platforms.
- PMP, Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), SAFe, or similar project management certification is a plus but not a substitute for strong technical experience.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will be a technical leader first and a project manager second. You do not need to be writing production code every day, but you should have enough engineering depth to participate credibly in technical conversations.
You should be able to sit with an engineering team and understand discussions around APIs, database changes, front-end and back-end dependencies, cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines, technical debt, performance, and deployment risks—and then translate those discussions into clear project decisions and actions.
We are specifically looking for someone who can connect business objectives with engineering execution and help technical teams deliver high-quality solutions predictably and efficiently.
Ideal Candidate Profile
A strong candidate may have followed a career path such as:
or
Software Engineer → Solutions Engineer / Architect → Technical Project Manager
Candidates whose experience is primarily administrative project management without meaningful exposure to software engineering and application development are unlikely to be the right fit for this position.
