Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in Richland/Seattle is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to lead software implementation projects from conception to operation. The role requires national security domain knowledge, software engineering or data science expertise, applied AI, and strong agile management to align scope, schedule and budget with mission goals.

Qualifications

• BS/BA and 11+ years of relevant project management experience -OR- MS/MA or higher and 9+ years of relevant project management experience.
• Experience managing software engineering, analytics, AI/ML, or data science projects in technically complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical program strategy and end-to-end execution for software engineering, data science, and AI/ML initiatives.
• Partner with sponsors to translate mission needs into technical plans.
• Lead and mentor engineering teams and guide critical technical decisions.
• Own integrated planning: scope, schedule, budget, milestones, and governance.
• Apply agile practices to support iterative software delivery and data science experimentation.
• Collaborate with architects, data scientists, and SMEs to drive execution.
• Maintain project artifacts in Jira/Confluence with backlogs and roadmaps.
• Identify and mitigate risks across scope, data quality, and deployment.
• Serve as primary stakeholder interface and manage progress and tradeoffs.
