Empower the world’s most trusted newsrooms by architecting the future of media consumption, content distribution, and AI-driven discovery. Your mission is to transform raw media assets into intelligent, high-fidelity data—powering a global headless content infrastructure that makes every piece of content discoverable, monetizable, and ready for next-generation AI applications.
The Role
As the Lead Technical Product Manager for Global Media Services (GMS), you will take ownership of an API-only platform, bridging deep engineering expertise with strategic product vision.
- Backlog Ownership & Ticket Rigor: Reclaim and author the technical backlog, defining clear business logic and uncompromising acceptance criteria so engineering teams never operate in a vacuum.
- Architecture & Intercepting Trade-offs: Challenge engineering architects on complex trade-offs, auditing solutions to prevent unnecessary complexity while safeguarding commercial roadmaps.
- Headless API & Metadata Leadership: Read and define OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, design JSON schemas, structure distribution pipelines, and set API business rules (e.g., usage plans, RPS, and quotas).
- Multimodal AI & Discovery: Drive the implementation of Knowledge Graphs, semantic search, vector databases, IAB taxonomies, and multimodal AI enrichment workflows (including OCR, transcription, and entity extraction).
- Technical Spikes & Strategy Pivots: Lead database and vendor technical evaluations, design ingestion-to-distribution pipeline specs, and pivot strategies when client needs evolve mid-project.
The "Must-Haves"
- Prior Engineering Career: Must have started your career as a hands-on Software Engineer or Developer (generalist PMs will not be considered).
- Experience: 7+ years of total experience with a proven track record delivering metadata, taxonomy, search, AI, or content intelligence platforms.
- Technical Fluency: Absolute mastery of OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, JSON schema design, and distributed systems architecture.
- Timezone & Location Alignment: Ability to work from a nearshore location with at least 5–6 hours of direct overlap with US Eastern Time (ET) business hours.
The "Bonus" Skills
- Tier-1 Media/Tech Background: Prior experience at scale-heavy organizations like Disney Streaming, Netflix, Bloomberg, Spotify, or Amazon Prime Video.
- Media Infrastructure: Direct experience with Content Management Systems (CMS), Media Asset Management (MAM) systems, or digital publishing environments.
- Advanced Ad-Tech & Data: Deep knowledge of Vector Databases, contextual advertising, or IAB taxonomies.
- Technical & Pragmatic Leader: Confident diving deep into API specs and system trade-offs while maintaining a strong pulse on commercial objectives.
- Adaptable & Resilient: Comfortable navigating complex, high-scale environments and pivoting technical execution rapidly without compromising business integrity.
- Clear & Articulate Communicator: Exceptional ability to translate dense technical architecture into actionable product strategy for cross-functional partners.
- Ownership-Driven: Takes authoritative command of product direction, quality standards, and engineering alignment.
