Job summary

White Cap in Kansas City seeks a detail-oriented estimator responsible for completing detailed material quantity estimates from owner or contractor furnished plan sets. The role collaborates with design teams to verify specifications and aligns with sales on bid strategies.

You will coordinate with vendors, review plans, and mentor junior estimators while ensuring timely quotations and accurate bid packages in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a related discipline; 5–8 years of experience, or MS/MA with 3–5 years.
• Certification is required in some areas.
• Ability to mentor and train staff.
• Strong estimation, bid prep, and vendor communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research plans and specifications and determine the general scope of work; confirm material meets specs.
• Determine accurate quantities of products/materials from plans; identify construction materials.
• Communicate with vendors for availability and delivery times.
• Clarify unusual material issues with engineers/owners via RFIs.
• Assist in bid preparation and design bid strategies with the sales team and monitor competitor pricing.
• Coordinate and review work of other estimators or sales staff; mentor staff regularly.
