Job summary

GEM Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Technical Editor, Safety Basis to join the Los Alamos team. This full-time role is based in Los Alamos, NM with approved remote capacity, supporting DOE/regulatory documentation for nuclear facilities.

You will edit DSAs, TSRs, Hazard Analyses, and related calculations, ensuring compliance with DOE orders and site requirements while improving clarity and maintainability of complex material. Collaboration with engineers and nuclear safety analysts is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, technical communication, or a related field with 6+ years of experience.
• Experience editing technical, engineering, nuclear, or regulatory documents.
• Strong grammar and writing style with clear document structure.
• Experience working with subject matter experts in regulated environments.
• Ability to learn complex technical material quickly.

Responsibilities

• Support development, review, and maintenance of Safety Basis documentation for nuclear facilities.
• Edit, format, and quality-check documents including DSAs, TSRs, Hazard Analyses, and Supporting calculations.
• Ensure documentation complies with DOE orders and site requirements (DOE O 420.1, 10 CFR 830).
• Improve clarity and readability without changing technical intent.
• Track revisions and manage version control with SMEs.
• Prepare documents for internal reviews, audits, and readiness activities.
• Collaborate with authors, engineers, and SMEs to resolve comments.
