Job summary

GEM Technologies, Inc. seeks a Technical Editor, Safety Basis to support Los Alamos National Laboratory in a full-time role based in Los Alamos, NM with remote capacity.

You will edit and format regulatory documents such as DSAs, TSRs, and Hazard Analyses, ensuring compliance with DOE orders and site requirements while preserving technical intent. You will collaborate with engineers, nuclear safety analysts, and SMEs, manage revisions, and prepare materials for approvals in a highly regulated

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, technical communication, or a physical/social science with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience editing technical, engineering, nuclear, or regulatory documentation.
• Strong grammar, writing style, structure, and consistency.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and document control tools.
• Ability to work with subject matter experts in regulated environments.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain government clearance if needed.

Responsibilities

• Support development, review, and maintenance of Safety Basis documentation.
• Edit, format, and quality-check DSAs, TSRs, Hazard Analyses, and related work.
• Ensure compliance with DOE orders and site requirements, including DOE O 420.1 and 10 CFR 830.
• Improve clarity and readability without changing technical intent.
• Apply document standards, templates, and configuration management.
• Collaborate with authors and SMEs to resolve comments and improve quality.
• Prepare documents for internal reviews, approvals, and submittals.
• Track revisions and maintain version control; work with SMEs in a regulated environment.
