Job summary

BLN24, headquartered in the Washington DC metro area, seeks a Senior Technical Editor to lead editorial planning, reviews, and quality assurance for complex technical publications supporting research, engineering, and technology programs.

You will mentor editors, manage the full lifecycle from draft to publication, ensure alignment with GPO style and government standards, and collaborate with researchers, engineers, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Communication, Communications, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible technical editing experience including supervisory responsibility.
• Experience managing the complete editorial lifecycle for technical reports, manuals, and digital content.
• Expert knowledge of GPO style manual, editorial standards, and technical editing best practices.
• Experience leading editorial teams and coordinating multiple publication projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead editorial review and quality assurance of technical reports and engineering documents.
• Manage manuscript development through final publication, including copyediting and fact checking.
• Ensure consistency with publication standards and references verification.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, authors, and government stakeholders.
• Provide editorial guidance and mentoring to editors and writers.
