Job summary

Gensler in Charlotte seeks a Senior Technical Designer to translate sketches into detailed 2D/3D models and manage core design delivery. You will collaborate with Design Directors to drive technical execution through construction documents, BIM coordination, and envelope detailing.

You bring 10+ years in commercial design, strong Revit proficiency and experience across schematic to construction administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
• 10+ years of relevant experience within a commercial design firm.
• Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques is preferred.
• Experience with all phases of the design process from schematic design through construction administration, and field observation is preferred.
• Strong proficiency with Revit.
• Proficiency with SketchUp, Enscape, or other 3D modeling software, and the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Passion for design excellence and continuous learning.
• Demonstrated commitment to resilience and sustainable building practices.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production.
• Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies and other vendors to meet overall project objectives.
• Utilize hand rendering techniques to communicate design concepts.
• Contribute to project execution, BIM modeling, technical coordination and provide QA/QC support.
